Jersey City Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting, celebrating, and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community in Jersey City through inclusive events, cultural programming, and year-round community engagement.

Formed to provide long-term stewardship and organizational sustainability, Jersey City Pride formalizes more than two decades of Pride work in the city under a nonprofit structure—ensuring transparency, responsible governance, and continued impact for future generations.

Our History

Pride has been a powerful and visible force in Jersey City since 2001. What began as a grassroots celebration has grown into one of New Jersey’s longest-running and most recognized LGBTQ+ Pride initiatives, drawing tens of thousands of attendees, artists, community partners, and allies each year.

In response to the growth, scale, and year-round nature of Pride programming, Jersey City Pride was established as a nonprofit organization to strengthen operations, expand community partnerships, and preserve the legacy of Pride in Jersey City while creating space for new programs and initiatives to thrive.

The Jersey City Pride Festival

A cornerstone of our work is the Jersey City Pride Festival, now in its 26th year. The festival is our flagship program and a signature cultural event for the city, celebrating LGBTQ+ visibility, creativity, resilience, and community.

Produced annually alongside a wide range of supporting events and programs, the Jersey City Pride Festival reflects our commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and representation—bringing together people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds in celebration and solidarity.

As a nonprofit public charity, Jersey City Pride operates exclusively for charitable, educational, and cultural purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
